Worship Support Team
Worship is the heart beat of the church and it is so much more than what the pastors say or the music we sing. Every week the people of God come together to share our love for God and one another and it wouldn’t happen without the amazing volunteers who work so lovingly behind the scenes.
If you are interested in serving worship in any way, please contact Janet O’Day firstname.lastname@example.org and she will connect you with the team leader for that area! Training will be made available for anyone new to any of our worship teams.
Ushers chose to serve at the 8:00, 9:00, or 11:00 worship hour and are responsible for welcoming those who enter and helping with the logistics of worship, handing out bulletins, collecting offering, leading people to Communion, helping guests locate facilities, and being friendly and helpful to all those who wish to worship with us! This team removes the barriers that might make things difficult or distracting, so that the people of God can worship freely!
Extroverts wanted! If you love smiling and talking to people, this is for you! If you are unafraid to ask the question “can I help you find something,” this is for you! If you can hold a door open and tell someone “we are glad you are here,” this is for you! Greeters work before each worship hour to make sure that everyone who comes to FUMC Boerne knows that we are glad they are here on that day.
There are a number of jobs on the Media team all of whom work behind the scenes to make sure that the technical aspect of worship runs smooth. We need sound operators to help run the sound board and set up equipment before and after services. We need projection operators who run the program that projects everything on the screens for worship, and film team members (9:00 service only) who are willing to help us as we live stream the sermon on Facebook each week. If you are a a behind the scenes person who likes learning a little technology, this team is for you.
The Bible is for everyone, not just the pastors! That is the message we send when members of our congregation come forward to read scripture each and every week. All you need to do to be part of this team is sign up by the main office for the weeks you are available to read. You will be sent the scripture reading during the week in advance of Sunday so you can prepare. If you can read aloud, clearly and confidently you can be part of this team!
Every week at the 8:00 service, and on the first Sunday of the month at the 9:00 and 11:00 services, we participate in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. This most beautiful and meaningful ritual of the church takes care and preparation. Set up and take down before each service is needed. Bread and cup is prepared, linens washed and folded, gluten free elements made available, all done with love and care. If you have a love for preparation and sacrament this is your team!
Christ’s table is open to all and so is the ability to serve communion! You don’t have to be of a certain age, or “holiness level” to serve in this way. Just let us know you are interested in serving and we will send out an email each month allowing you to sign up for the service and station you would like to serve. A quick training will be made available for anyone who has never served communion before and can be scheduled any Sunday morning.
If you have gifts in interior design or decoration, or even know how to set a beautiful table you can use that gift in worship. There are so many ways we can enhance our already beautiful Sanctuary to help illuminate the message or the season of worship we are in. Let us know if you are willing to share these gifts weekly, monthly, or seasonally and we can work together to bring all the senses to worship.
