Ricky Burke
Dr. Ricky Burk Biography

A native of Lubbock, Texas, Dr. Burk received the B. A. in Theology from Southwestern University, Tucson, Arizona in 1984, the M. Th. from Liberty Bible College, Pensacola, Florida in 1987, the Course of Study School certificate from Perkins School of Theology, Dallas, Texas, in 1995, the Advanced Course of Study School certificate from Perkins School of Theology, Dallas, Texas in 1998, and the Doctor of Ministry from Perkins School of Theology, Dallas, Texas in 2000. Ricky was ordained an Elder in full connection with the Southwest Texas Conference in June 2000.

It was his privilege to teach the Course of Study School summer school program at Perkins School of theology, and Pastoral Leadership and Administration for eight consecutive summers.

Dr. Burk served at the Telferner, Texas and Nursery, Texas United Methodist Churches from 1993 to 1996; St. Mark’s UMC in Victoria, Texas from 1996 to 2000; St. Paul’s UMC in Kerrville, Texas from 2000 to 2002; Lampasas UMC from 2002 to 2006; and FUMC: San Angelo from 2006 until 2011. Dr. Burk began serving FUMC-Boerne in June, 2011.

In 2002 Ricky received the Southwest Texas Conference Denman Evangelism award for outstanding work in church evangelism. He has pastored four churches which received the Bishop Arthur J. Moore Evangelism award for significant growth in membership and attendance.

Ricky is an avid birdwatcher, novice astronomer, and lover of God’s great outdoors. His personal mission statement for life is “to build the local church by communicating biblical principles.”

He is married to the Rev. Beverly Burk, Associate Pastor at FUMC: Boerne, and together they parent five children and eight grandchildren.
