Musical opportunities abound for all ages at First United Methodist Church, Boerne! You will find a large variety of musical media in which children as young as three months of age, youth, and adults may use their musical talents. You can also find the joy in learning new skills to be the musician you have always wanted to become! All persons, whether members of FUMC or not, are invited to participate in the music and worship arts ministries of this congregation.
• In the Family Music Program, you can celebrate making music as a family! Come for the fun, and stay for the education! This program meets on Friday mornings and utilizes the Musikgarten curriculum with trained facilitators leading all classes. Please contact Kim Pickard at 249-2565 x 24 for more information.
• Children from pre-kindergarten age through 6th grade may praise the Lord in song through one of our Children's Choral Groups. The Cherub Choir welcomes children of ages Pre-K to Kindergarten. Joyful Spirit's members are in the 1st to 3rd grades. These groups are under the direction of Kim Pickard. The Jubilate Singers are the 4th through 6th graders, and meet Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:15 pm directed by Nancy West in Memorial Hall. Both directors invite your children to discover the joy of making music with one of these wonderful groups as they practice on Sunday mornings and lead worship together on a regular basis. • One Voice Youth Choir meets on Sunday and gives 7th through 12th grade students a fun-filled opportunity to fellowship, sing, and learn handbells with other youth. This group likes to focus on building musical and leadership skills by leading worship on a regular basis. • The Chancel Choir graces our 11:00 service each Sunday with beautiful choral music. This talented group of adults rehearses weekly on Thursdays from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall, and invites you to join them! In addition, the Chancel Choir prepares special seasonal presentations that offer musical and dramatic opportunities. Soloists and instrumentalists are also invited to share their talents in worship. • Jubellation Handbell Choir brings exciting musical arrangements to worship services on a regular basis. They rehearse on Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. In addition to presenting music in worship, this group enjoys attending handbell festivals and other ecumenical events. • The 9:30 Service Worship Team brings praise to God by leading the Sunday morning contemporary worship experience each week. This group of vocalists and instrumentalists rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Contact Director of Music, Rev. • The Gathering Praise Team is a talented group of singers and instrumentalists who rock the house with praise to God each Saturday evenings at 6:35 p.m. at the "The Gathering" contemporary worship service.
